17,253 weapons deposited at police stations

AMRITSAR: The ongoing election process in the district is almost peaceful.

The ongoing election process in the district is almost peaceful. Officials of the Election Department are not getting much complaints regarding violation of the code. However, the administration has recovered heavy quantity of drugs and illicit liquor.

According to the district administration, no incidents of violence have been reported till date. Meanwhile, residents have deposited 17,253 licensed weapons at police stations.

The police filed proceeding under Sections 107/116 of the CrPC (preventive measures to maintain peace) against 15 persons.

Meanwhile, the police has recovered 17 gm heroin, 1 kg poppy husk, 3,795 kg lahan and 491 litre illicit liquor till now.
