Amritsar, January 13

The Amritsar Improvement Trust (AIT) has issued a notice for the closure of HK-52 resort on the Old Jail Road for not having the change of land use (CLU) certificate. The resort is owned by Charanjit Singh Chadha, who is facing sexual assault charges since a “sleaze” video clip went viral.

Rajiv Sekhri, Superintending Engineer, Amritsar Improvement Trust (AIT), said, “We have issued a notice to Chadha to close the HK-52 resort immediately. Otherwise we will take strict action against the owner, he said.

The chief vigilance officer (CVO) of the state Vigilance Cell had written a letter to the AIT to take appropriate action against the owner of HK 52 resort for running a banquet hall in a residential area “illegally” on December 14, 2017. Following that, the AIT issued the notice.

According to information, the AIT had passed a resolution to change the land use of the property on December 23, 2016. But the state government did not issue notification in this regard. The resort is illegal until the state government issues a notification.

A local congress activist, Sandy Randhawa, stated that the hotelier had been earning even after the AIT issued notice. “The resort should be closed immediately. The officials demolish small vend alongside roads in no time but the influential hotelier is running illegal business without any fear,” Randhawa added.
