Bibi Khalra submits reply over poll code

Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra, PDA candidate from Khadoor Sahib, on Monday submitted her reply regarding the poll code violation to Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer. The issue of “violation” was reported on April 20 when she reportedly termed Sri Guru Granth Sahib her election manifesto in an interview to a Jalandhar-based newspaper and a web TV. Bibi Khalra mentioned in her reply, “Sri Guru Granth Sahib is not for a particular community. It delivers a message of equality, caste-less society, anti-cruelty, helping the poor and welfare of all. Thus the notice deserves to be cancelled without delay,” she stated. The election office confirmed that the reply had been received. — OC
