Chheharta man severely injured in assault, stable

AMRITSAR: A group of men barged into a house in Chheharta and assaulted its owner, leaving him severely injured.

A group of men barged into a house in Chheharta and assaulted its owner, leaving him severely injured. The victim has been identified as Sikander, alias Judge. He has sustained injuries on his face and head.

He has been admitted to a private hospital where his condition stated to be stable.

The reason behind the assault hasn’t been ascertained yet. The police are waiting for doctors’ nod to record the statement of the victim.

Victim’s wife Shivani stated to the police that she had been presenting cultural programmes at private functions. She said she had to perform at a private palace in Chheharta on Friday where her husband dropped her at 12 am. At around 2.30 am, she got a phone call that the doors of her house were open and Sikander was attacked by unidentified persons.

She said she immediately rushed to her house and found her husband lying in a pool of blood. With the help of neighbours, she took him to a private hospital.

Roop Lal, investigating officer, said a case under Sections 307, 453 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against unknown persons. The suspects were yet to be identified. The statement of the victim couldn’t be recorded as doctors declared him unfit to do so.

His statement is required for further probe, he added.

Reasons not known
