A 17-member group of growing-up children from the UK was immensely happy to see and have a feel of religious and cultural capital of Punjab here on Monday. They paid obeisance at Golden Temple and Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh Shahid. Later, they paid floral tributes to the martyrs at Jallianwala Bagh.
District Tourism Officer Gursharan Singh said the tour was organised by the state government under its programme to connect youngsters back to their roots. He said its objective was to familiarise them with rich and vibrant Punjabi culture. They were informed that Punjabis practice various religions and faiths but were joined together with the spirit of Punjabiyat, he said.
It was the second batch of youngsters and the third batch will arrive soon.
