CKD reduces book prices

AMRITSAR: The officiating chief of Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) Dhanraj Singh has reversed the decision taken by former president Charanjit Singh Chadha regarding the prices of the books.

The officiating chief of Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) Dhanraj Singh has reversed the decision taken by former president Charanjit Singh Chadha regarding the prices of the books.

In his order, he has asked all the schools under CKD Charitable Society (CKDCS) to ensure that students get books at the reduced prices. The prices of the books have been reduced massively citing the object of the organisation.

CKD has also asked the parents to send bill of those books which are available at lower prices than decided by the charitable society. The prices of books have been reduced from Class Nursery till VIII.

“My vision is to providing education at affordable price. One must not forget that CKDCS is a charitable organisation. Therefore, the prices have been set keeping in mind, the word charitable attached to it. The step has been taken to ensure the well-being of students and parents,” said Dhanraj.

The prices of the books have been reduced significantly. For instance, the set of books for Nursery was available at Rs 1800 is now priced at Rs 330. Books for LKG class priced around Rs 2,000 are priced at Rs 470. Similarly for other classes also the prices have been reduced. The decision shall be implemented from the new session from April 2018 onwards.

As per the orders, the parents are required to contact a particular book distributor for the books. “The books are not available in the schools. They will be available at particular shops. We are also planning to reduce the prices of uniforms soon,” he added.—TNS
