College gets Rs 80-lakh grant

AMRITSAR: The Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology (ACET) has received a grant of Rs 80 lakh under the Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure (FIST) programme of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi.

The Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology (ACET) has received a grant of Rs 80 lakh under the Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure (FIST) programme of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi.

Principal of the Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology Dr VK Banga said: “It is a proud moment for the college to be selected as the only engineering college from the state in the category of PG colleges.”

The grant will be utilised for setting up specific research labs on ‘Big Data Analytics’ in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, ‘Antenna Design’ in the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering and other teaching facilities.

The setting up of these state-of-the -art labs will lead to solutions to many research problems related to huge digital data analysis and modern communication systems.

Amit Sharma, chairman and CEO, Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology, appreciated the efforts of the faculty and staff for getting this distinction.
