Elderly woman murdered

TARN TARAN: Amrik Kaur, a 62-year-old woman, was allegedly died due to suffocation in Sarhali village, 22 kilometers from here, late on Thursday evening.

Amrik Kaur, a 62-year-old woman, was allegedly died due to suffocation in Sarhali village, 22 kilometers from here, late on Thursday evening.

The Sarhali police have registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police were still clueless in the case.  The deceased was living separately from her husband at the village.

Station House officer (SHO) Inspector Kanwalpreet Singh said the autopsy was performed on Friday and the body was cremated at Sarhali.

The SHO said the deceased was on her bed in her house when she was murdered.

Hardeep Singh a close relative of the deceased, said Amrik Kaur was married in Goria (Lopoke) village but later the couple got separated and she came here.

Earier, she was living with her mother who died about 16 years ago.
