Amritsar, December 3

The visitors to the historic Jallianwala Bagh here faced inconvenience today, as the police blocked the entry of common people inside the monument due to the visit of delegations of 'Heart of Asia' conference to the place.

The visitors complained that common people inside the Jallianwala Bagh were in no way a threat to the delegates, including VIPs. Rajinder Singh, a resident of Baba Bakala, said, “The people must not be treated in such a way. The memorial is not anybody’s public property and it is meant for the public.” He said he wanted to take his children inside the Jallianwala Bagh, but could not do so.

Meanwhile, police officials said the area was cordoned off because the delegation included many VIPs. The officials stated that barricades were installed for a short time and not much trouble was caused to the public.
