Fake visa: Four held, hunt on for travel agent

AMRITSAR: Immigration officials at Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport have nabbed four persons for possessing fake visa documents.



Amritsar, May 20

Immigration officials at Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport have nabbed four persons for possessing fake visa documents. They have been handed over to the police. They were customers of a Mohali-based travel agent, who got stamped their fake visas. The city police have also booked the travel agent, Rajbir Singh Sidhu, for the fraud. Sidhu owns Genius Key of Education near Mohali Cricket Stadium.

The arrested persons, identified as Balwinder Singh Heir of Tahli Wala village in Ferozpur, Mohit Deep Singh of Soju Kalia village near Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala, Baljit Singh of Mukerian and Harpreet Singh of Jartoli village in Ludhiana, are in their twenties. They had to board a flight to Malaysia.

Airport SHO Parmdeep Kaur said, “Their passports are original but the visas of Malaysia stamped on their passports are fake.”

They said they had given Rs 1.40 lakh each to the travel agent. The police have launched a manhunt to arrest Rajbir Singh Sidhu, the travel agent. — TNS
