Fake IB officer booked
Amritsar: The police have booked a man for allegedly posing himself as an Intelligence Bureau (IB) official to cheat a woman. He has been identified as Rohit Dhawan of Hukam Singh road. The victim stated to the Civil Lines police that he told her that he wanted some information about her. A case has been registered under Sections 419, 341 and 506 of the IPC. TNS
Two arrested for mining
Tarn Taran: A team of mining officials, led by Amarjit Singh from Khadur Sahib, caught two persons for violating mining norms near Goindwal Sahib. ASI Manjit Singh said Prabhjot Singh of Gehri Mandi and Jagjit Singh of Dhunda were booked under Section 379 of the IPC, and 21 of the Mining Act. A JCB machine and a tractor-trolley laden with sand were impounded. OC
Heroin seized; three held
Tarn Taran: The Verowal police arrested three bikers and recovered 29 gm of heroin at a nake (checkpoint) in Sangharkot village on Wednesday. A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them, said Kulwinder Singh. They have been identified as Bikramjit Singh Bikar, Bikramjit Singh Nikka and Nishan Singh of Nathoke village. OC
