Bridge construction work launched

Amritsar (West) MLA Raj Kumar Verka inaugurated the construction of a bridge to connect Guru Ki Wadali with Thande village here today. The bridge on canal minor would be constructed at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore.

Verka said the bridge would decerase the time and travel distance to reach Gurdwara Chhevhi Patshahi, Guru Ki Wadali, from at least 20 villages. A long pending demand of the area residents has been met, he said.

The MLA also announced Rs 20 lakh for betterment of sports stadium in the area. He claimed that the work would begin in a month.

Sakattar Singh Gill, Councillor of the area, said a large number of pilgrims visit the gurdwara due to which traffic congestion was a big issue. He said they hoped that the new bridge would ease the traffic problem.
