One succumbs as villagers beat up thieves

AMRITSAR:A thief was allegedly beaten to death by people in Sultanwind village on Wednesday when he, along with his accomplices, entered a house for stealing.

A thief was allegedly beaten to death by people in Sultanwind village on Wednesday when he, along with his accomplices, entered a house for stealing. 

Suspects Suraj, Krishan alias Rinku and Neeraj Kumar attempted to steal form a house. However, owner of the house woke up and raised an alarm. As a result, people gathered and nabbed Suraj and Krishan while their third accomplice Neeraj managed to escape. 

They were brutally thrashed by villagers before handing them over to the police. During the investigation, Suraj’s health condition deteriorated. He was immediately shifted to Civil Hospital where he succumbed. Suraj was a resident of Tarn Taran road area. Krishan alias Rinku is currently in the police custody. The police have registered a case under Sections 302, 147 and 149 of the IPC against unknown persons.
