Taking first steps towards digital world, Punjab Naatshala has launched a digital portal to share information regarding its activities. The digital channel will be used to provide information regarding its theatre schedule and also go live, if required.

“It’s a way to reach out to the audience that prefers digital media platforms for entertainment and information. The concept will enable the particular user to download Telegram application, where one can find the channel and can log in to become a member. It will have all the information regarding Punjab Natshala’s activities and theatre plays, along with the history and brief summary of the home productions,” informed Jatinder Brar, patron, Punjab Naatshala.

Naatshala has become the first cultural space to have digital platform. The move, says Brar, will encourage more youngsters and audience to associate with its programmes and theatre.

Meanwhile, the Naatshala has also opened its auditorium for special artistes, who will be offered free space for learning theatre and drama. “The children from Chief Khalsa Central Orphanage and other institutes catering to the needs of special children will be invited to bring in students to learn theatre studies,” said Brar.

The auditorium is designed specifically to suit the needs of special children, with elevated stage that can move in all directions through hydraulics. It also has advanced light and sound technology to aide them while performing. Naatshala will also bear the expenses of transportation for these students and has already roped in theatre exponents as mentors.
