Employees of a private recovery agency were beaten up by people when they reached a farmer’s home for taking away the tractor which he had taken on loan. The farmer had failed to pay the installment of the bank on time. A recovery agent, identified as Harjinder Singh, sustained serious injuries in the incident that occurred at Khiyala village.

Harjinder Singh said he worked in a recovery agency. He said around two years ago, Harvinder Singh of Khiyala village took a loan from a private bank for buying a tractor. For the past several months, he had not submitted monthly installments of the loan, he alleged. He said the bank authorities asked the recovery agency to take away the tractor. He said that when they reached his home, Harvinder Singh called other peasants from the village and offered resistance.

They allegedly attacked them with sharp-edged and blunt weapons. He said when he along with other recovery agents tried to escape, they caught hold of them and thrashed them. He said other recovery agents informed the Kamboh police and a police team reached the spot. He was later admitted to hospital.
