SAD MP Ranjit Singh Brahampura today condemned the state government for its “failure” in providing facilities to people under social security schemes started by the previous SAD-BJP government.

He addressed a gathering at the annual function of Mata Sahib Kaur Modern Senior Secondary School, Bharowal, 20 km from here, where he was the chief guest. He said the pension to the old-aged had not been disbursed for months. “The Atta-Dal scheme has been closed and other welfare schemes have met a similar fate, which were working properly under the previous government. Government schools are also lacking adequate infrastructure,” he said.

The MP released a grant of Rs 2 lakh from the MPLAD funds for the school.

Meanwhile, students presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion to raise awareness among people about social evils. Principal Joti presented the annual progress report of the school.

Ravinder Singh Brahampura, former MLA from Khadur Sahib, too, addressed the gathering. Tejinder Singh, director of the school managing committee, presented vote of thanks.
