Bathinda, February 11

The councillors are up in arms against the Triveni Company and have demanded that the private firm’s contract must be cancelled. Councillors are of the opinion that either Sewerage Board or Municipal Corporation Bathinda should take the maintenance work in their own hands.

The councillors alleged that the Triveni Company has adopted lackadaisical attitude and hardly address the issues related to residents of the city.

Senior Deputy Mayor Tarsem Goyal said, “Nobody is satisfied with the maintenance work of Triveni Company in the city. In some areas there is no water supply and in various parts of the city residents are getting contaminated water. The private company is unable to address the issue and has damaged the roads.” Goyal said the MCB in a stern manner should tell the firm either to streamline the work or cancel their contract.

Deputy Mayor Gurinderpal Kaur Mangat said, “Triveni Company is often flooded with complaints related to no water supply and sewerage overflow in the city.” She accused the private firm of wasting public money as pipes and construction material has been lying at various spots.

Ward no. 46 councillor Harvinder Sharma Ganju said “Triveni is doing work at snail pace, we have to call them ten times and only then they visit the affected area.

He said over a year and half has past but the drains in city have not been cleaned yet. Raj Kumar, councillor from ward no. 27 said, “The officials of the private firm hardly give priority to their work. As a result even small problems turn into major ones.”

He added that that maintenance work of water supply and sewerage should be taken back from the Triveni Company and be handed over to Sewerage Board or the MCB.
