Litterateurs exhort use of prose for effective writing

BATHINDA: Renowned literary figures from the region dwelt on different aspects of prose writing and its relevance in the present context during the Peoples Literary Festival under way at the Teachers’ Home here on Wednesday.

Renowned literary figures from the region dwelt on different aspects of prose writing and its relevance in the present context during the Peoples Literary Festival under way at the Teachers’ Home here on Wednesday.

A number of literature enthusiasts participated on the second day of the festival.

Addressing a gathering of literature lovers from the region, renowned litterateur principal Sarvan Singh said, “It is essential to introduce prose in writing to keep readers attracted to literary work. Playing with words while keeping the essence of content alive plays a pivotal role in maintaining artistic prose in a literary creation. Prose apart from lending attractiveness and innocence also adds a different style to tell a story or any form writing of writing compellingly.”

The principal said, “Writers in the past also used prose extensively to stay relevant. There are different subject matters that can be used as a tool to effectively use prose. The selection/use of words in writing must have a universal appeal and writers should adopt an open-ended approach.”

Manmohan Bawa, a renowned litterateur, said the interest among Punjabi readers about history was increasing now. Bawa shared historical accounts from Mughal times and threw light on his travelling experiences.

Navdeep Gill, sports correspondent and writer, said in today’s digital era, people were still connected to the literature.
