Finance Minister Manpreet Badal will lay the foundation stone of a cattle feed plant at Mehma Sarja village in Bhucho Mandi on Sunday.

The plant being set up to convert paddy stubble into cattle feed will come up at a cost of Rs20 crore.

As per a press release issued here, Bhucho Mandi MLA Pritam Singh Kotbhai said the plant would be set up on 20 acres by a private firm.

The MLA said it would be the first plant in the state, which would ensure environment-friendly disposal of paddy stubble.

He said the move would not only generate employment opportunities for the local youth, but it would also help check burning of paddy stubble in the region.

Kotbhai added that the cattle feed produced in the plant would be supplied in the state.

He said the plant would strengthen the economic condition of farmers.
