MRSPTU students create awareness on traffic rules

BATHINDA: The National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Civil Engineering Department, Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology (GZSCCET), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, organised a “Traffic Rules Awareness” programme in Bathinda.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Civil Engineering Department, Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology (GZSCCET), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, organised a “Traffic Rules Awareness” programme in Bathinda.

Students of the Civil Engineering Department visited the bus Stand, Gol Diggi and Tin Koni, three heavy traffic points in the city and motivated the people to obey traffic rules for the betterment and safety of one’s life.

Students distributed pamphlets on safe driving and riding of vehicles to create awareness of traffic rules. Besides, they also focused on risk involved in rash driving and using cellphone while driving/riding. They also highlighted the importance of wearing helmets to avoid fatal accidents.

Prof (Dr) Savina Bansal, Campus Director, GZSCCET, Bathinda, flagged off the bus carrying NSS volunteers to spread the awareness on traffic rules. “Road safety is need of the hour to save precious lives,” she said, while lauding the efforts of the department for arranging such camps for students.

Prof Manjeet Bansal, head of the Civil Engineering Department, said such traffic awareness programmes would continue in the coming days too. Architect Ranjeet Kaur (coordinator NSS, MRSPTU), Gurpreet Singh Bath, associate professor (NSS in-charge), Sunita Kotwal (NSS co-in-charge), and assistant professor, Civil Engineering Department, played a key role in organising the camp.
