Congress leader and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee delegate Kewel Krishan Aggarwal has been appointed Chairman of the Bathinda Improvement Trust (BIT).

Talking to Bathinda Tribune, KK Aggarwal said to fast track the bus stand project and resolve people-related issues in BIT areas would be his priorities. He said his major focus would be to stop public harassment and he would issue instructions to officials to check documents before taking the fee from applicants instead of making calls for one or the other document later. The chairman said he would make public dealing in the BIT office convenient and hassle-free for the public.

He said all pending cases would also be resolved at the earliest. He also stated that he would try to work for the benefit and welfare of city residents.

Talking about bringing new projects, KK Aggarwal said: “I have many projects in my sight but first after taking charge, I will look at the financial condition of the trust and start projects accordingly in the coming days.”

The new chairman said the trust would take up the challenges of urbanisation and development which were the main objectives behind setting up of these bodies. “It seems that the institution has lost its objective and needs to be put back on track and that is what I intend to do,” he said.

“There is a dire need to improve the level of public dealing at various levels in the trust which has, over the period, tarnished the image of this institution,” he added.
