BATHINDA: A rifle snatching incident was reported from Bahadargarh Jandia village under the Nandgarh police station last night.

Bathinda, November 24

A rifle snatching incident was reported from Bahadargarh Jandia village under the Nandgarh police station last night. It was the second such incident in the past 22 days.

Gurkirtan Singh (55), a resident of Raike, has lodged a complaint at the Nandgarh police station stating that he was heading to his duty at a solar plant at Bahadargarh Jandian village with a double barrel .12 bore rifle last night.

However, when he reached near the Canal bridge, two unidentified persons, with their faces covered, stopped their car close to him.

They were carrying .12 rifle and a pistol. They threatened him before snatching his double barrel rifle and later fled from the spot with the snatched gun. He immediately called the police.

A case has been registered against two unidentified persons under Section 382 of the IPC at the Nandgarh police station.

On November 2, four unidentified persons had snatched a licensed .12 bore rifle, cartridges and Rs 1,000 in cash from a private security guard, Mohinder Singh, at Behman Diwana village.

Mohinder Singh (63) had told the police that the accused were in a car.

He works as a security guard at a private college in Behman Diwana village.

According to police sources, the accused in both cases had the same modus operandi and they believed the same men could be involved in these incidents.

Both CIA wings of the Bathinda police have started the probe. On the other hand, Narinder Kumar, SHO of the Bathinda Sadar police station, today claimed that the rifle snatched from Mohinder Singh was recovered from Mudki in Ferozepur district. — TNS
