The Bathinda police claimed to have arrested an accused, who along with his two other associated, had allegedly snatched an Innova car at gunpoint from Sangria in Rajasthan on September 9.
In a press statement released by the police, it has been stated that SI Rajveer Singh, along with a police party, had done a barricading at Kanhaiya Chowk. They got a tip-off that three persons had snatched an Innova car on September 9 and one of the accused, Jaswant Singh alias Kaka, a resident of Jaito, was coming to Bathinda from Kotkapura by installing a fake number plate (PB 03 L 7872) to sell the car here in the city.
Acting on the tip-off, the police party nabbed the accused, along with the Innova car, a .12 bore country-made pistol and three live rounds were also recovered.
A case under the Arms Act and Section 473 and 411 of IPC has been registered against the accused at the Thermal police station.
It is also stated that during interrogation, the accused revealed the names of his two gang members — Prince Arora alias Billa, a resident of Kotkapura, and Avtar Singh, a resident of Sirsa.
