Two held for siphoning off foodgrain

BATHINDA: The Thermal police today booked a depot holder and his son with two other persons for not giving foodgrain to card holders and instead selling it to others on high rates at Baba Farid Nagar, Bathinda.

The Thermal police today booked a depot holder and his son with two other persons for not giving foodgrain to card holders and instead selling it to others on high rates at Baba Farid Nagar, Bathinda.

The police arrested two persons and recovered 71 bags of grain (50 kg each) from a tractor trailer. Investigating officer Jagdeep Singh of the Thermal police station said they had booked Pritam Singh, his son Bunty, Pawan Kumar, a resident of Paras Ram Nagar, and Kauhsal Kumar, a resident of the Quila road area.

Jagdeep Singh said, “We have arrested Pawan Kumar and Kaushal Kumar with 71 bags of grain while Pritam Singh and Bunty are absconding.” A case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
