Two hurt as bike collides with stray cattle

BATHINDA: One person was injured after his motorcycle collided with stray cattle standing in the middle of the road in the city on street number 6 in Bir Talab area of the city on Sunday.

One person was injured after his motorcycle collided with stray cattle standing in the middle of the road in the city on street number 6 in Bir Talab area of the city on Sunday.

After receiving the information, volunteers of the NGO Sahara Jan Sewa reached the spot and took the injured to the Civil Hospital. The injured has been identified as Rajkumar (30).

The problem of stray cattle has become a serious issue in the city as many lives have already been lost and several have been injured. The situation turns worse at night when it becomes difficult for the commuters to spot the stray animals due to darkness.

Several accidents have been reported due to stray cattle that roam around on roads. The district administration and the Municipal Corporation Bathinda (MCB) have failed to address the problem.

The situation is now getting serious due to the increasing number of cattle in the city. Herds of cows can be easily spotted on various locations in the city. The Municipal Corporation Bathinda is the first civic body in the state which is imposing cow cess with the aim of checking the problem of stray cattle menace.

In another incident, a pedestrian was injured after being hit by a motorcyclist in Kheta Singh Basti. Members of Sahara Jan Sewa reached the spot and took the injured to the Civil Hospital. The injured have been identified as Naresh Singh (60).

In another incident, two Activa riders were injured after it collided with a tempo traveller near the railway road in the city. After getting the information, Sahara volunteers took the injured to the Civil Hospital. The injured have been identified as Bhushan Kumar and Sumit Kumar.
