A team of the PSPCL on Wednesday conducted a surprise checking at the Water Supply and Sanitation Department office here and detected that power was being supplied without any meter.

Sahil Garg, SDO, PSPCL, Malout, said, “As of now, we can’t say whether it was a case of power pilferage or not. We will tomorrow check our records that whether the department had given any application about the old meter not working or burnt. If the supply was made in an illegal way, action will be taken. Now, we have sent the today’s report to high-ups.”

He further said the team had visited some other places as well today.

Meanwhile, repeated attempts to contact senior officials of the department proved futile. It is to mention here that a large number of departments are yet to clear the outstanding bills of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.
