2 robbed at gunpoint; 3 targeted by snatchers

CHANDIGARH: Unidentified miscreants riding an Indica car robbed two persons of cash at gunpoint during the wee hours of today. Police sources said four unidentified miscreants riding a white Indica car snatched Rs 5,000 and a mobile phone from Dhirender, a resident of EWS Colony, Dhanas, near the Sector 25/38 roundabout.

Unidentified miscreants riding an Indica car robbed two persons of cash at gunpoint during the wee hours of today. Three snatching incidents were also reported from the city.

Police sources said four unidentified miscreants riding a white Indica car snatched Rs 5,000 and a mobile phone from Dhirender, a resident of EWS Colony, Dhanas, near the Sector 25/38 roundabout.

The miscreants also targeted another person, Satbir, a resident of Dhanas, who was robbed of Rs 3,000 and a mobile phone at gunpoint.

The sources said the victims failed to note down the registration number of the car.

The police were informed about the incident who rushed to the spot. A case under the Arms Act and that of robbery has been registered at the Sector 39 police station.

Snatchers on the prowl

In a snatching incident, three pedestrians snatched Rs 32,000 from a motorcyclist by stopping him near Dhanas.

According to the police, the victim, Jagtar Singh (27), who works as a salesman in Sector 45, was going from Khuda Lahora to Dhanas on his motorcycle on Sunday night when a pedestrian asked for a lift. The victim stopped his motorcycle and in the meantime two other miscreants came and snatched the cash from the victim. All three accused managed to escape from the spot. The victim had collected the money from clients.

The police were informed about the incident following which a case was registered at the Sector 11 police station.

The second snatching incident was reported today. Two motorcycle-borne miscreants sped away after snatching a gold chain from a woman in Sector 45. The victim has been identified as Bharti, a resident of Sector 45, who was injured in the incident.

The police were informed about the incident following which a case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.

The third snatching incident was reported this evening.

Sources said two motorcycle-borne miscreants attacked a pedestrian with an axe and snatched Rs 1,000 in cash and a mobile phone from him near the dumping ground.

The accused managed to escape from the spot.
