PATIALA:Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi in a statement issued here has said that a nationwide agenda was being pursued against the downtrodden (people belonging to lower castes) and minorities with the tacit consent of the Central Government.

Patiala, May 24

Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi in a statement issued here has said that a nationwide agenda was being pursued against the downtrodden (people belonging to lower castes) and minorities with the tacit consent of the Central Government. Consequently, several Hindu organisations are attacking people belonging to lower Dalits and minorities, which is a blatant violation of the Indian Constitution and human rights.

He said: “It is for everyone to see that different sub-nationalities, Dalits and minorities have been suffering from unequal and unjust treatment and oppression for the past 70 years. But during the past three years, after the BJP took over the reins of power, an exponential increase has occurred in this phenomenon, which is a dangerous trend for the unity of Indian society and its people and for the future of the country. The spirit of the Indian Constitution lies in “Unity in Diversity” and until the diversity is not allowed to blossom and get equal opportunities to flourish, the unity has no meaning.”

He said no justice-loving and democratic person can tolerate the barbaric treatment being meted out to Dalits and Muslims of Mirchpur, Una, Muzaffarpur, Jhaloor, Bhagana, and now Saharanpur and the list of endless.

Warning some Hindu organisations flourishing under the patronage of the BJP regime, Dr Gandhi said with their ideology and actions, the key slogan of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” being propagated by the BJP in full throat will allow neither India remain ‘Ek’, let alone ‘Shreshtha’. — TNS
