Chandigarh: The UT Sports Department will organise boxing and weightlifting tournaments on March 7. The boxing tournaments will be conducted in U-14 to 17 years category for the bonafide boxers of the city.



Chandigarh:  The UT Sports Department will organise boxing and weightlifting tournaments on March 7. The boxing tournaments will be conducted in U-14 to 17 years category for the bonafide boxers of the city. While the weight lifting tournament will be organised in male and female categories for below 17 and 20 years age group. The interested players should confirm their entries with weight lifting coach Karan and boxing coach Bhagwant Singh at 11am on the date of the tournament.  TNS

Rahul, Rupinder shine in golf 

Pacnhkula: Local golfers Rahul Batra handicap category (0-16) and Rupinder Jeet Singh handicap category (17-24) qualified for the national finals of the Mercedes Trophy of Chandigarh leg qualifier held, at the Panchkula Golf Course, on Wednesday. Batra and Singh clinched the qualification spots by carding a nett score of 69 and 71.2 respectively. A total of 36 qualifiers, including from today, will be competing in the National Finals to be played at the Oxford Golf Resort in Pune from March 27 to 29.  Bismad Singh won long drive challenge with a drive of 327 yards. Kirpal Kooner won the closest to the pin contest. Jagdish Kumar and Subhash Goel won the two crossest to pin events of different categories. The format of play was double Peoria for adjusting handicaps of players’ levels. A total to 120 golfers participated today. On Thursday, a total of 89 golfers will partcipate in the second round.
