In a first, the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) will be awarding ‘Best Child-Friendly Practices’ in schools, organisations and individual category while observing its 5th foundation day here on Thursday.
The commission is set to launch a compilation on the Child-Friendly Initiatives for Child-Friendly City (CFC). This compilation will be given to all schools so that initiatives are adopted by all.
The awards will be conferred in the category of child-friendly social initiatives, child participatory approach, promoting sports as a tool of development, environment-friendly initiatives, safety-first initiatives (POCSO).
Schools chosen for child-friendly initiatives are Carmel Convent School, St John’s High School, GMSSS-Dhanas, Chitkara International School and Bhavan Vidyalaya.
In the field of sports, schools to be awarded are DAV (Lahore) for maintaining sports culture for decades, Shivalik Public School for creating excellent sports infrastructure and St Stephen’s for training world-class footballers.
Besides, the GMSSS-47 and GMSSS-46 will be acknowledged for their environment-friendly initiatives such as kitchen garden and promoting herbal culture.
Kapil Sood, TGT Mathematics of Government High School, Sector 53, will be conferred with award in the individuals’ category for spreading mass awareness mission in general knowledge (GK).
