The IAF’s No.12 Wing, based at Chandigarh, has been awarded the Best Transport and Helicopter Operational Trophy of the Western Air Command (WAC).
The award was presented to the Air Officer Commanding 12 Wing, Air Commodore Tejbir Singh, by Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, during the WAC Commanders’ Conference held recently in New Delhi.
A major transport base, 12 Wing is involved not only in operations in the northern sector towards day-to-day air support to Ladakh and Siachen region but also has been in the forefront during disaster relief operations and giving humanitarian assistance throughout the country during natural calamities.
The Wing was in the limelight recently after one of the IAF’s latest acquisition, the CH-47 Chinook heavy lift helicopters, were inducted into service with one of the squadrons here.
