Chandigarh, June 15

The Chandigarh chapter of the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union (PCCTU) opposed the report on governance reforms in Panjab University (PU) on Friday

The Panjab University Vice-Chancellor has formed a 23-member committee to look into the report. The PCCTU condemned the suggestion for stopping the payment for checking answer books and examination duty in the report.

They described the report as anti-colleges and “hurting the sentiments of teachers” of 188 affiliated colleges. These were arbitrary and one-sided reforms, in which college voices were marginalised, said members of the Chandigarh chapter.

They said if the university would impose these reforms, PCCTU would boycott the evaluation and examinations duties.

Prof Bhupinder Singh, president, District Council, and Dr Himanshu, Secretary, stated that the voice and representation of college teachers should not be suppressed in the PU.
