Patiala, July 13
Leader of Opposition in Assembly, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, on Friday said the announcement of the state government to conduct a dope test of all government employees is merely wool over the eyes. He also criticised the SAD- BJP for disregard of langar, during their rally in Malout. He was addressing a press conference in Patiala.
The AAP leader said, “The drug menace in the state is the most important matter. The dope test is never conducted after announcement. It should be conducted suddenly without informing earlier. Also, the state needs Rs 18 crore for conducting dope test of all employees in the state.”
He said the dope test should be conducted on police officials. “Many police officials have been terminated and suspended in cases related to drugs.”
He said the provision of the death penalty under the NDPS Act cases was removed in 2014, so, there was no reason to demand its implementation.
