CHANDIGARH:In a low-scoring match of the Punjab Inter-District Championship for the FC Mittal Trophy, Patiala defeated Mohali by six wickets to bag four points at the new PCA Stadium in Mullanpur today.

In a low-scoring match of the Punjab Inter-District Championship for the FC Mittal Trophy, Patiala defeated Mohali by six wickets to bag four points at the new PCA Stadium in Mullanpur today. Due to rain, the match was reduced to 20 overs. 

Winning the toss, Mohali skipper Gurkeerat Mann opted to bat. However, the side were bundled out for 62 runs. Ikjot Singh Thind was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 4/11. Sandeep Sharma (3/12), Sanvir Singh (2/14) and Rajwinder Singh Golu (2/10) were the other notable performers. Mayank Sidhu was the only notable scorer for Mohali as he contributed an unbeaten 18. He was supported by Barinder Sran (12). In reply, Patiala posted 66/4 in 16.3 overs with Prabhjot Singh (30), Prabhsimran Singh (10) and Sanvir (10) chipping in. Skipper Mann claimed 2/15 for the bowling side.

Abhishek knocks ton as Amritsar log victory 

Amritsar opener Abhishek Sharma smashed 100 off 74 balls, with eight boundaries and nine sixes, to help Amritsar register a 64-run victory over Jalandhar in another rain-affected match. Batting first, at Gandhi Grounds, the hosts posted 309 in 50 overs. Abhishek’s was supported by Kumar Pathak, who posted an unbeaten 95 off 57 balls, with nine boundaries and five sixes. Aarush Sabharwal (81 off 104 balls, with eight boundaries and a six) also scored a half-century. 

Gaurav Chaudhary (2/39), Raghu Sharma (1/42) and Rahul Sharma (1/51) were the main performers for the bowling side. In reply, Jalandhar were 153/5 in 36.2 overs when rain halted play. Mansab Gill (58 off 76 balls), Gaurav Chaudhary (29) and Mandeep Singh (25) were the main scorers for the side. Rohit Gulati claimed two wickets, while Ashwani Kumar and Abhishek claimed one wicket each. Amritsar won by 64 runs under the VJD method.

Rain delays match

The last day of the Punjab-Chhattisgarh match has been extended to the reserve day as rain played spoilsport during the second day of the All India Invitational Cricket Championship for Dhruv Pandove Trophy. Only 15 minutes of play was possible. Punjab lost three wickets and were 102/7 at the close of second day’s play. Himanshu Khana (28) and Ridham Satyawan (17) were the two main run-getters for Punjab. Vasudev Bareth (2/28), Devaditya (2/18), Shashwat Mishra (1/34) and Rohan Tank (1/8) claimed the wickets for the bowling side. 

In the second match, Himachal was playing at 70/3 in 28 overs against Madhya Pradesh when rain started. Harsh Jamwal (28) and Rohit Narang (16) were at the crease when play was stopped. Tripursh Singh (2/21) and Sagar Solanki (1/18) claimed the wickets for the bowling side.
