Man booked for outraging woman’s modesty

MOHALI: The Mohali police today booked a youth on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman, criminal intimidation and stalking. The accused has been identified as Sushant Kumar, a native of Bihar.

The Mohali police today booked a youth on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman, criminal intimidation and stalking.

The accused has been identified as Sushant Kumar, a native of Bihar.

Kumar had allegedly made a fake profile in the victim’s name and posted objectionable pictures of the victim on a social networking website.

A police official sai: “The accused created a fake Facebook profile of the victim and posted obscene pictures on social media, thereby outraging her modesty. When the victim objected to his behaviour, he allegedly threatened her and harassed her, following which she filed a complaint with the police.”

Sources said the victim is a resident of Sector 70. The accused was an acquaintance of the victim.

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 354 D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act at the Mataur police station.
