Man sent to jail for carrying banned vials

CHANDIGARH: A local court has awarded 6-month jail to a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, Chandigarh, for illegally possessing 100 banned injections.



Chandigarh, October 26

A local court has awarded 6-month jail to a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, Chandigarh, for illegally possessing 100 banned injections. The case was registered on July 21, 2018, at the Sector 26 police station under Section 22 of the NDPS Act.

A police team was patrolling in Bapu Dham Colony. They saw that a youth, Rohit Kumar, was coming from the opposite direction and was carrying a bag in his hand. On seeing the police, he turned and started walking quickly. On suspicion, the police stopped him. During checking, they found 50 injections of buprenorphine and 50 injections of phenoramine maleate from him.

He couldn’t produce any licence or permit for carrying the injections. The court of Rajesh Sharma, Additional District and Sessions Judge, awarded him 6-month jail. —TNS
