Chandigarh Mayor Davesh Moudgil inaugurated a newly constructed Sehaj Safai Kendra (SSK) in Sector 45 here today.

Area councillor Kanwarjeet Singh Rana, other MC councillors and local residents were present on the occasion.

The Sehaj Safai Kendra has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2.65 lakh with 60’x40’ dimension, including store and two sheds for two separate dustbins - blue and green for dry and wet waste inside the boundary wall.

After inaugurating the kendra, the Mayor appealed to city residents to segregate their household waste in their houses, shops, institutes and offices to help the MC to process it further to keep the city cleaner.

He said Swachh Survekshan-2018 was going on throughout the country and the MC had made its best in it with the new innovative projects in the field of solid waste management.

He said the MC had started night sweeping in the city and cleaning of garbage bins.
