MOHALI:The Congress candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, Manish Tewari, kicked off his election campaign in a public rally with Punjab Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu in Mohali today.

The Congress candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, Manish Tewari, kicked off his election campaign in a public rally with Punjab Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu in Mohali today.

Addressing people Congress leaders appealed to the people to vote cautiously at this crucial time as India’s future depended on it.

“This election is important. So, you have to select your government carefully,” said Tewari.

Training their guns at the Modi government, Congress leaders said, “Everybody knows about the poor performance of the government at the Centre.”

Tiwari emphasised that he was not an outsider, but an experienced leader, who had served the nation for decades.

The Congress would not seek votes on false promises like Modi, Tewari said while adding that he was born and bought up in Chandigarh.

Sidhu criticised the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal for their anti-common man policies. Pawan Kumar Bansal, former Union Minister and the Congress candidate from Chandigarh, also attended the rally.

Bansal campaigns for Manish Tewari

Coming out in support of the Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Anandpur Sahib constituency, Manish Tewari, party’s Chandigarh candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal, addressed a gathering in Sector 80, Mohali, today.

The two were earlier contenders for the Congress ticket from Chandigarh, but the party decided to field Bansal from Chandigarh. Before this, Tewari had also campaigned for the former Union Minister in Chandigarh. 

Bansal appealed to people to see through the “bluff” of the BJP and vote the Congress back to power as it was the only party, which worked for all sections of society without any bias or discrimination. 

In Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal had left the treasury empty, said Bansal. Immediately after taking over the reins of government Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, improved the financial condition of the state and it was now back on the road to progress and prosperity, he added.
