Five school students, who were stealing two-wheelers parked in the Dera Bassi areas for the past few weeks, were arrested by the police on Monday. The police recovered five motorbikes that were stolen from different areas in the past few weeks.

The suspects have been identified as Harsh, Rohit, Dharamveer, Krishan, and Krishna, all residents of Dera Bassi.

The police said these students, aged between 12 and 14, bragged to their friends about owning various two-wheelers and clicked photographs with the vehicles.

The minors were arrested on June 24 near the Mubarikpur-Ramgarh stretch following a tip-off.

Satinder Singh, SHO, Dera Bassi, said: “During preliminary questioning, the students admitted to have stealing at least five two-wheelers, some of which were traced by the police”.

The police today produced them before the Juvenile Court, Mohali, which sent them to Juvenile Home at Hoshiarpur.
