Ambala, November 14
To meet the passenger demand and to promote tourism on the world heritage Kalka-Shimla rail section, Ambala Division of the Northern Railways will run self-propelled RA-100, CT/14 (Jharoka) and rail motor car (RMC) on the concept of “chartering of individual seat” through booking counters available at the Kalka and Shimla railway stations.
The facility would begin on November 16 and continue till January 15 keeping in view winter vacations, said Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Hari Mohan here today.
He said RA-100 and CT/14 (Jharoka) and RMC would be operated on the Kalka-Shimla section to promote tourism and provide a great travelling experience during the winter vacations.
The facility of RA-100 (self-propelled), CT/14 (Jharoka coach attached with train) and RMC are at present available on a full charter basis. To capture the market during the winter vacations, these charter facilities will now be permitted on the demand of tourists for Kalka-Shimla and Shimla-Kalka journey on an individual basis as well.
The carrying capacity of RA-100 and CT/14 (Jharoka) is eight passengers each while RMC can carry 14 passengers. Tourists could purchase tickets for these trains either from Kalka or the Shimla railway station as per availability, he said. — TNS
