CHANDIGARH:Omisha Nischal registered a facile 6-0 6-3 win over Shreya Harpal to ease into the girls’ U-14 semifinals in the ongoing AITA-STA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Championship at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here, on Wednesday.

Chandigarh, January 9 

Omisha Nischal registered a facile 6-0 6-3 win over Shreya Harpal to ease into the girls’ U-14 semifinals in the ongoing AITA-STA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Championship at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here, on Wednesday.

Ananya Dogra drubbed Ayushi Prajapat 6-0 6-1, while Yashika Sharma downed Sia Mahajan 6-4 6-1. Vanya Arora humbled Bhumika Gupta 6-3 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

Arnav advances

In the boys’ U-14 quarterfinals, Arnav Malik rallied from a set down to beat Kanvar. Malik lost the opening set 4-6, but came back strongly to win the next two sets 6-0 6-1 to stay in contention for a place in the final.

Keshav Dangi overcame Akshat Dhull 6-2 3-6 6-4, while Shraey Vir edged out Anirudh Sangra 7-5 6-2. Aditya Chauhan packed off Hardik Khanduja 6-1 6-0 to stay on course for the final.

Chauhan also reached the boys’ U-16 semifinals after beating Anirudh Sangra 6-2 6-4. Avish Verma registered a 6-4 6-4 win over Arnav Harsh, while Sanat Goyal got past Rajan 6-2 6-0. — TNS
