Harjas claimed a match haul of nine wickets to help visitors Patiala register an easy win over Mohali and sail into the final of the U-16 ML Markan Trophy, at IS Bindra Stadium here on Friday.

In the final, Patiala will face Amritsar, which beat visitors Bathinda on the last day of their encounter at Gandhi grounds.  Harjas, who had claimed a fifer to restrict Mohali to 147 runs in their first innings, added four more wickets to his kitty in the second innings to bundle out Mohali for 123 runs.   

Resuming at 109/5, Mohali lost their remaining five wickets for the addition of just 14 runs.  

Udaybir Buttar was the first to go, cleaned up by Vanshish without adding to his Thursday’s score of four runs. Aryan Bhatia fell to Harjas on 13.   

Sahibjit Singh (1) and Jaskaran Singh (0) also failed to make a significant contribution to the Mohali innings. 

Harjash claimed 4/54 in the second innings, while Vanshish returned with figures of 3/28. Needing just 82 runs for victory, Patiala scampered home with nine wickets to spare. Siddharth Kathuria scored 41 runs, while Ekamjit Singh contributed 26 runs to the chase. Patiala in their first innings had made 193.

Amritsar beat Bathinda by four wickets.

At Gandi grounds in Amritsar, the hosts bundled out Bathinda for 105 runs in their second innings and then chased down the 172-run target with four wickets to spare to score an outright victory.

Resuming at 27/4, Bathinda lost wickets at regular intervals to close down their innings on 105 after taking a vital 67-run lead in the first innings.   

Uday Partap Sarn was involved in a 30-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Shiv Jindal before Akashdeep struck to reduce the visitors to 35/5. Sarn was trapped in front on 21.

Jindal then added 38 runs for the sixth wicket with Gurpiar Singh. The duo was separated when the former was cleaned up by Fateh Deep on 32.

Gurpiar Singh was castled by Anirudh on 18  while Varun Duggal was caught by Sumit Pal off Fatehdeep for 20 runs. Delove Goyal was bowled by Akashdeep for 12.

Manroop Singh (3/27), Akashdeep (3/41) and Fatehdeep Singh (3/26) claimed three wickets each for the hosts, while Anirudh picked 1/11. Needing 172 runs for victory, Amritsar had positive start to their innings with opener Sumit Pal Singh scoring a brisk 42 before being bowled by Varun Duggal. 

Thereafter, Sandeep Nishad and Dhruv Verma took the total to 113 in 24.4 overs. The two were involved in a 53-run partnership for the second wicket. Verma was stumped by Gurpiar off Abir Kohli for 38. 

Nishad then in company of Manroop Singh added 41 runs for the third wicket before he was run out by Parav for 33. Manroop followed the suit after being caught by Uday Sarn off Abir Kohli for a 26-ball 28. Jashan Jindal accounted for Samrath Chugh (2) and Arshdeep Singh (0) to trouble Amritsar but failed to stop the hosts from achieving the target.  For Bathinda, Jashan Jindal (2/34) and Abir Kohli (2/70) took two wickets each, while Varun Duggal accounted for one wicket.
