Patiala lads shine in taekwondo championship

PATIALA:Aryaman Singh Kohli and Aamer Singh Kohli of Patiala took part in the Korea Open International Taekwondo Championship held at Chuncheon city, South Korea, recently.

Aryaman Singh Kohli and Aamer Singh Kohli of Patiala took part in the Korea Open International Taekwondo Championship held at Chuncheon city, South Korea, recently. 

The international event was sanctioned by the World Taekwondo Federation. Players from more than 50 countries participated in the tournament.

Aryaman Singh who is a student of Class IX in The Lawrence School, Sanawar, participated in the Colour Belt Gyeorggi event (under 14) and won the silver medal. He lost in the finals to Edeen Jevy of Philippines. 

Aamer Singh who is a Class IV student in Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, participated in the Colour Belt Gyeorggi event (under 10) and bagged third position with bronze medal.

Both boys underwent extensive personal training for 15 days under the guidance of taekwondo master Park Jong Woo at the Prestigious Legends Academy, Ilsandong-Gu.

By securing medals in the event, the boys have qualified for another tournament to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, later this year.

Aryaman Singh said his sole motivation was his school’s logo ‘Never Give In’. The boys thanked their teachers and coach SP Singh for support.
