Poor condition of parking lot after recarpeting

This is the current situation of the parking lot of Phase-5 market in Mohali (opposite Bougainville Garden), which was recarpeted last year. At present, it is full of broken patches and potholes. There’s a need to question the authorities for such a waste of money.

Concession in bus fare to senior citizens

Some senior citizens of Panchkula and Mohali have submitted a representation to UT Adminstrator VP Singh Badnore, Member of Parliament Kiron Kher, and Director, Transport, Chandigarh seeking to restore the 50 per cent local bus travel concession that was withdrawn in April 2018. However, the same is continued to be enjoyed by senior sitizens of Chandigarh. They have supported their version by citing example of a similar concession give to women on Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day. It has been further pleaded that such concession is available to senior citizens of other countries. Senior citizens of a country deserve special treatment and travel concession is a mark of respect and sympathy to them. The Chandigarh Administration should accept the genuine request of senior citizens of Panchkula and Mohali and allow them 50 per cent concession while travelling in CTU buses.

Corridor of peace

Guru Nanak unifies the world through his teachings. It has been proven once again with the Kartarpur corridor constructed between India and Pakistan. The corridor can help in restoring peace between the two nations. Pakistan and India share common history but still have differences that affect unity. Common man always wants love and peace, which can give a fillip to growth and development. My grandfather had been to Pakistan twice and he is fortunate enough to visit gurdwaras over there. He often tells us that many Muslims also take care of gurdwaras but there is some kind of unease among the people. I have heard him saying that it is the governments that are to be blamed. People do not hold grudges. There is no need to send any political message on the eve of Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary. It is after 72 years that people have got a chance to pay obeisance at gurdwaras in Pakistan.
