Chandigarh, February 18
The Panjab University Research Scholars Association (PURSA) submitted a memorandum regarding demands of research scholars to the Dean of University Instructions (DUI) and the Vice-Chancellor here on Monday.
The research scholars demanded reduction in prices of characterisation tests conducted by CIL (Central Instrumentation Laboratory) and SAIF (Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Laboratory) on the Panjab University campus.
These charges are a heavy financial burden on the scholars as a major portion of their fellowship is spent on them.
Researchers have put forward the demand of bringing the prices on a par with other research institutes such as INST, IISER, IMTECH, CSIO and IIT.
The researchers also demanded adequate seating arrangements in the departments in order to develop a good research atmosphere.
The university authorities will give a response to these issues by February 22 in this regard and further course of action will be taken thereafter.
