In wake of the upcoming Independence Day, security has been increased in Mohali.
Police teams have been checking PG accommodations, hotels, religious places and other such buildings to verify occupants there.
According to Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal, special nakas are being laid to check vehicles.
“Our teams have also carried out searches at Jheurheri village adjoining the Chandigarh Airport, Balongi village and other rural belts in the town. All SHOs in their respective areas are carrying out searches here,” said SSP Chahal.
475 cops to guard dist-level venue
The SSP said a total of 475 police personnel would provide security cover at Government College in Phase 6 here where the district-level I-Day function would be celebrated. All security arrangements would be supervised by five SP-rank officers, who would be assisted by four DSPs and 21 inspectors. Besides, 53 NGOs, 366 Head Constables and Constables and 26 women cops in and around the venue will keep a strict vigil. The venue would also have 15 special nakas in its surroundings on the I-Day.
Brahm Mohindra to hoist Tricolour in Mohali
Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra will hoist the Tricolour in Mohali at 9 am at the district-level I-Day function. It would witness a performance of band by the Punjab Police Academy at Phillaur, a cultural programme by children and presentation of tableaux among others.— TNS
