St Xavier’s cagers off to a winning start

CHANDIGARH:Yayin scored six points, while Eklavya netted four as hosts St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, recorded a 21-2 win over DC Montessori School, Mani Majra, in a boys’ U-12 category match on the opening day of the 19th Inter-School Basketball Tournament for St Xavier’s Trophy here today.

Yayin scored six points, while Eklavya netted four as hosts St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, recorded a 21-2 win over DC Montessori School, Mani Majra, in a boys’ U-12 category match on the opening day of the 19th Inter-School Basketball Tournament for St Xavier’s Trophy here today. Vivek scored two points for the DC Montessori School. 

In another match, Saupin’s School, Sector 44, humbled St Xavier’s School, Zirakpur, 13-2. Rajvansh scored six points, while Saksham contributed four points to the Saupin’s tally. Ojas was the lone scorer for St Xavier’s.

St Peter’s School, Sector 37, drubbed St Xavier’s School, Mohali, 24-9. Power guard Dhruv (10 points) was the top scorer for St Peter’s, while Aditya added six points to the total.  Jaskaran scored eight points St Xavier’s. 

Ashiana School, Sector 46, downed Sri Aurobindo School, Sector 27, 21-4. Panveer alone scored 10 points for the winners, while Taranjot netted five points for the side. Sant and Tanish scored two points each for Sri Aurobindo School. 

Armaan scored 10 points, while Edwin chipped in with eight points as St John’s High School, Sector 26, beat St Kabir School, Sector 26, 21-15 in their opening match. Aditya and Gurviraj netted six points each for St Kabir School. 

In the boys’ U-18 category, the hosts downed Sri Aurobindo School 21-8 in their campaign opener. Harmannjeet scored nine points, while Bhavkaran added five points to the St Xavier’s tally. Shivam scored three points for Sri Aurobindo School. 

St Peter’s School pulled off a narrow 30-29 win over Saupin’s School. Abhinandan (nine points) was the lead scorer for St Peter’s. Vansh chipped in with eight points. Akul scored 17 points for Saupin’s School.

Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, downed DC Montessori School 31-14. Vaibhav (11 points) and Naman (eight points) were the main contributors for Strawberry Fields. For DC Montessori School, Saksham scored six points. 

In the last match of the day, St John’s School defeated St Xavier’s, Panchkula, 23-2. Anhad and Kunal scored six points each for St John’s, while Aditya was the only scorer for the Panchkula outfit.
