Panchkula: Strong winds claimed a life in Panchkula. A woman labourer, Shanti Devi (40), died in Sector 3 after a wall at the under-construction police headquarters fell on her. She was immediately taken to the General Hospital in Sector 6, where she died. 

  • In another incident, four persons, including two women and a child, suffered head injuries after a tent fell at the community centre in Sector 26 due to strong winds. The injured were identified as Achro Devi, Nisha Devi, Sonu and Bhavyadeep. While others were discharged from the General Hospital, Panchkula, eight-year-old Bhavyadeep was still under observation. Bus staff, children injured in Pinjore

Panchkula: A tree fell on a private school van at Nanakpur village in Pinjore on Friday afternoon. Vehicle driver, a woman attendant and three students were sitting in the van at the time of the incident. 

  • The van was badly damaged while the occupants sustained minor injuries. The injured were discharged after they were given medical aid at the Primary Health Centre, Pinjore. 

n In another incident, a student of a government school, who was going to his house on foot, received injuries due to the felling of a tree. The student was taken to the Primary Health Centre, Pinjore, but was referred to the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula. TNS

School van hits tree, 4 students hurt 

Panchkula: A major tragedy was averted after a school van hit a tree at the Industrial Area, Panchkula, on Friday morning. In the accident, four students sustained minor injuries. 

  • The incident took place when a motorcycle coming from the wrong side came in front of the van and to save the motorcyclist, the van driver lost control over it. Passersby gathered there and helped the students. 
  • According to information, it was a private van that picked students of different schools. A spokesperson of a private school said there was only one student of their school in the van, who was safe. TNS
