The North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, in collaboration with the Natak Wala, a group of theatre enthusiasts, will organise the 17th Summer Theatre Festival from June 23 to 25 at Kalidasa Auditorium, Virsa Vihar Kendra, Patiala.
The event is being organised in the memory of Prem Parkash Singh Dhaliwal, a renowned scholar of Punjabi, Hindi and Sanskrit. Dr Sawraj Singh, international scholar and surgeon, will be the chief guest on the inaugural day.
Today, ‘Two Blind Men & A Donkey’ written by Mathurien Dondo, Punjabi translation by Usha Nagpal and directed by Kavita Sharma, will be staged in the festival. Another play, ‘Funtoosh Chiller’, written by Suman Kumar and directed by Kavita Sharma, will also be staged by child artistes on the first day. A play, ‘Clerk Ki Mout’, a dramatic version of Anton Chekhov’s classical story which is directed by Kailash, will be staged on June 24.
‘Kaya Kalap’, a famous Marathi farcical play, written by Vasant Karnetkar, Punjabi adaptation by Surinder Bath and directed by Rajesh Sharma, will be staged on June 25.
