Two Rajasthan men held with 5-kg opium

MOHALI: The special task force (STF) of the local police has arrested two Rajasthan residents after five kg of opium was recovered from them.

The special task force (STF) of the local police has arrested two Rajasthan residents after five kg of opium was recovered from them.

The accused have been identified as Jasvir Singh (35), alias Jassi, and Prema Singh (26). They were arrested near the international airport roundabout.

The police had got a tip-off that a Polo car bearing a Muktsar registration numbers was carrying a high quantity of opium.

Prema is said to be Jasvir’s servant and the duo used to buy opium from Madhya Pradesh and sell it in Mohali at higher prices. Jasvir has a similar case registered against him in Rajasthan and is currently out on bail.

They were produced in a court and sent to two-day police remand.
